1972 Fastback For sale
After just over 6 years of ownership of the Fastback I have decided to sell. The main reasons for selling are. 1. My health is not too good. 2. I am officially classed as an old person 76 going on 77 and that itself creates problems e.g. I can get down and crawl under the car but, it takes me five minutes to get up on my feet again. 3. After 6 years of restoring the car, which included a house move, a back operation, a full body off restoration, the edges of the floor pan were 90% rotten and all replaced. Every area of rust has been replaced Etc. etc. but I have run out of enthusiasm and drive.
The car has been on the road for the last couple of months and I took it to my local car rally a few weeks ago which included a 22 mile road run. I have been using it regularly, including a trip to Tesco yesterday. It does run really well and I have been pushing it a bit recently and managed to get up to just about 70 mph with no problems.
During the restoration this car was used as a reference for the Fastback that Bangers and Cash, the Restorers bought and sold for £22k Jonny May who restored the Bangers an Cash car contacted me regularly for photos and details to help with his resto. I could probably get written confirmation of that.
Feel free to ask any questions about the car. I have over 600 pics taken during the restoration, An Excel spreadsheet with every penny spent on the car + a log from day one when the car arrived at my house.

A shame, but to the best of health! Good luck with the sale. Id suggest adding a price an location to help buyers. And more photos, all 4 sides, engine and interior if you can.

I will add some more pictures tomorrow, We are currently in the middle of storm Floris and it's blowing a gale. The Fastback is located near Banchory, Aberdeenshire Scotland. The condition I would describe as structurally and mechanically sound with no rust. The appearance, maybe patina would be the best word. Depending on how you believe a 1972 car should look, if you want showroom condition then this is not the car for you. The interior is all there, it's well used and could probably benefit from replacement. The paintwork could be kept with the patina look or resprayed.
I am looking for £8000 for the car. I also have a load of spare parts that will go with the car.

I am pleased that you got out to a car show and a enjoyed a few journeys in her. You will be selling it with the satisfaction of knowing that you brought it back to life.
I do like the custom touch of having a split bumper - never seen that before, but it is a cool detail

Thank you, yes it's been a long and tough journey at times. It's not perfect but it is sound and rust free and runs really well.

OK, the car has been on Ebay and created a lot of interest but, nobody was interested enough to buy. I've taken the price down now to £6500.

Re: 1972 Fastback For sale
The Fastback is no longer for sale. Despite the fact that my health is not too great I will take it off the road and work on it over the winter and try selling again in the springtime. I have had a lot of interest and a couple of time wasters but despite taking the price down to £6500 no takers so, Sod it. Onwards and upwards!

It may be a tricky time of year to sell a classic, so I'm sure the decision to defer until Springtime will be your best option, especially if you are able to tackle a few odd jobs over the winter lay-up

Yes, I think you're right although I had a lot of interest but not someone willing to pay what I wanted. I didn't think £6500 was too much for the car.Rhysos wrote: 13th October 2025 - 10:09am It may be a tricky time of year to sell a classic, so I'm sure the decision to defer until Springtime will be your best option, especially if you are able to tackle a few odd jobs over the winter lay-up![]()
