VVK 261G 1600 Fastback
Just bought myself a Fastback after wanting one for a long time. It's a 1969 1600TL and was imported from South Africa about 6 months ago which means I don't have any info on the history of the car but its got a certification from Wolfsburg with its delivery status details. It's in its original Diamond Blue colour and the body work and chassis are in great condition due to its life in a sunnier place, it's in for a shock when it experiences its first Scottish winter
The interior was originally black but is now in a lovely silver leather so from the outside she looks pretty good. The downside is the mechanics and electrics, it does run and i've had it out and about but there been some interesting 'bush mechanics' done on it. It's a single port with dual Solex carbs on it. It's my first VW and i'm no mechanic but have always tinkered around with cars doing a lot of my own maintenance. I've owned some old series 2 Land Rovers so i'm pretty well versed at the joys and frustrations of looking after an old vehicle and can't wait to get this one up the level i want. My aim is to tidy it up to use it as a run around. Looking forward to getting some input from you all as to how i go about sorting the issues out.
