A question to the knowledgeable
Whats your best adhesive of choice for attaching hood rubber and engine rubber seals.
I have used Tek 7 on bothe. But I am not entirely happy with it. It seems weak if exposed
to the least amount of contact after its set. Already while fitting the front wings
it has come away from its seating. And any attempt at an appropriate adhesive from local motor factors
has been met with a rabbit in the headlamps stare........Blank.
Thanks in anticipation

Re: Adhesive
I have tried contact adhesive, but that was a useless result. I normally put on a nice bead of Tek 7,
onto one surface only, and then attach whatever I am sticking. Other materials ,but not rubber until now.
And i was not impressed now when I tried the seals. I took a different approach today. I put down a light bead on both rubber seal
and metal. I then spread the bead on both surfaces, and then left to dry for about 5-10 minutes. Very slightly tacky to the touch.

Then I placed both surfaces together. It seemed to be a big improvement, but I will leave it overnight and check tomorrow.

Re: Adhesive
Just for the record,
The application to both pieces, with a 5-10 minute interval before final application,
worked a treat.
The seal appears to be firmly held now, and would take a bit of force to move it.
Success..

Re: Adhesive
I used to use permetex, which is good. But I found 3M weather strip adhesive to be bang on

Re: Adhesive
I read good reports on the 3m Weatherstrip adhesive, and thats what I went looking for in the local
motorfactors. But they never heard of it.
So i will be sourcing an online supplier for the future.
