412LS Variant SOLD

Post by Grease Monkey » 4th September 2021 - 11:26pm

SOLD

:( .....
VW 412LS Variant, reg. June 1974 (last month of production). 80,400 miles. Moss metallic.
We've (VW mechanic) owned him for just over 5yrs & in the last 3 he has only done just over 300 miles, so it's time for him to move on.
Briefly;
Genuine LS so 1800cc twin carb. (Big Valve heads)
It's had:
New rings and replacement B&P on #3
Replacement carb on left bank
New clutch, rear crank oil seal, Vintage Speed stainless exhaust, new starter motor (just fitted).
Brakes completely overhauled:
Recon master cylinder (past parts), all flexi's, wheel cylinder, shoes, pair of NOS (ATE) BMW calipers/pads & fitting kits.
Nearly all of the suspension has been replaced... rear springs and shocks, both front struts (with good inserts) and springs, and new top mounts.
Tie rod ends/boots, recon clutch slave cylinder (past parts)
Various bits of welding over the years
Has electric fuel pump with cut off.
Other stuff:
The interior it had was a mishmash of rubbish, so we found a complete grey interior; velour seats all in good condition with matching door cards. The headliner is in good condition with only a couple of tiny nic's.
We prefer something a bit different to the bog standard 4 stud alloys and found these Image alloys (fill out the arches nicely) with centre caps and a set or locking nuts. Tyres in fair condition.
The vinyl clad roof is still in good condition with the odd bit of bubbling.
Swan neck tow bar. Just fitted a good rear bumper & o/s wing mirror (hens teeth).
1 key fits all & spare
12 months MOT, no advisories (although MOT and tax exempt).
Fair bit of history/receipts/literature. Was in the movie 'Rush' (James Hunt/Niki Lauda).
Loads of patina/character and small areas that could do with a bit of attention. The front lip on the bonnet has gone, scratches on windscreen, carpets a bit naff, etc.
Starts on the button, nice and smooth to drive.
I'm sure there's loads more jobs & parts fitted .. just can't remember  or in denial.
Owes a lot more than the asking price of £5500 so that is FIRM... No swaps, western union, first born or time wasters... if you are looking at the ad, it's still available.

Cheers .. It did need some work .. the worst area O/S rear (inc front of the arch). Some numpty in the past has done a filler job on it
which needs investigating. But still a good car at a realistic price.
I brought a Italian 412le 4 dr (late 72' I think) a few yrs back .. been slowly doing bits, reconditioned the arse end (underneath) Been standing for many yrs & the 1.7 & inj system had seized/shot/crapped out .. so has been upgraded to a 1.8 with big valve heads running on 40pdsit's. Loads to do .. upgrade brakes, suspension, front end .. apparently the previous (allegedly) elderly lady owner had it in a garage and the roof collapsed .. never got dents out of a roof before arrr. So a long way of a ticket that's required to register it with the DVLA which I'm not looking forward to .. I've been told there's a 1 1/2 back log & then the useless git's will loose all the Doc's .. so no time soon !
