If it's got a clear coat, is it Alaska blue metallic (Aug 72 on)?

Yep that's it it's gone white so it's a rub down and a new paint job but hey I've got an original fast back and I love it

Would a good compounding with a buffer and decent compound polish not likely cut away the hazing, or will it be the full clear coat that's gone?

Yes that's right Danny. Gentian blue (1972 colour) and Alaska blue metallic (1973 colour) can look fairly similar in photos. I assume this car has a chassis number starting 3132xxxxxx, and yours too, Danny.
