Well, after a major step back from damage on one of the heads, I am finally moving forward again on the Roach.

Last night, the case savers, mil spec headstuds, pistons, barrels, heads, exhaust and manifolds were all installed. I like where it is. Now to tear it all back down and clean evreything again! But, it will work! The fk-8 cam, the Comp Eliminator heads, the 11.7:1 compression, the 1.5 rockers, the dry sump, the 1 3/4 header... all happy sharing the same space!

The only new parts on this engine are the bearings and the oil pump. And, the intake manifolds if I keep it n/a for a time.

I hve started unpacking the electromotive efi system to sort where to place it and the sensors. It is a crank trigger set up that can handle batch or sequential fire with up to 3 bar pressure from a turbo.

My standard rod bearings weren't. Grrr, they were 20 under.

Well, the engine assembly is on hold until the new bearings arrive, but my dry sump pump arrived yesterday afternoon.

I did manage to mount the crank trigger yesterday on the right case half.

My pulley for the trigger wheel is stock t1 size. It doesn't clear the dry sump. Well, it didn't. My friend Craig did his thing on his lathe and bingo! Full size pulley with degree marks fits!

After the mice/rats tore up wiring and made the carpet stink to high heaven in the pink car, I am against a deadline of a week from today to have the car functioning for the Type 3 Invasion. Man, I hate vermin...

Got the slave cylinder and new mount in. This was a 3 handed job due to the middy header pipe location. Oigh.

My sweetie helped me bleed the clutch tonight. I can shift, which means I can back onto the trailer without crashing!

The Type 3 Invasion is over. A couple shots of the pink car back on the streets.

Well after running rich at the Invasion, today I discovered why. My fuel pressure had crept from 2.2 psi to 4.3. The fuel regulator adjuster was still tight. Hmmm... Back down to 2.2 and everything corrected. Now, if getting reverse again was that easy!

I think I have finally found my 'no reverse' shifter issue in the pink car. After disassembling everything, cleaning, lubing and starting to reassemble I found that over 27 years, the cables have stretched. While they still slide freely, the left to right shift cable has grown almost 3/8". This has pushed things past their designed travel limits. So, now I am altering some dimensions to accommodate. Hopefully I will have an accessible reverse again, as well as a less vague pattern. Hopefully...

Today. For the 1st time in years, I have air cleaners on this car again.

Doing away with cable shifting and going with this system on the notch.

Seeing what I have to start with. A few pin holes and some definite work to do, but... this could get interesting.

The NOS trunklid is no longer in rough delivery primer... used 60 grit out to 600 grit to prep for sealer. Tonight more sanding and sealer. Tomorrow morning, we try and get some basecoat down.

Coat 4. After it flashes off completely, I will wet sand a little. No, the lid hasn't been body worked, as that was not the intent. It will be covered in like paint and layers so that I can body work the entire car later.

The internet said my paint gun was terrible for auto paint. WRONG! I set it up as my paint buddy told me to and it did great! Almost no drag on the 2000 grit sandpaper. Only flaws were one bug and the lack of body work. Tonight, clear coat!

Three coats of clear. Next up for this lid will be lots and lots of elbow grease! After it cures... 600, 800 and 2000 grit then color sand, cut and buff.

Gray base under the boot paint effected the tone.
