Type 4 fuel lines around the fuel pump

Post by richtbiscuits » 3rd September 2019 - 8:13pm

Can anyone refer me to a good picture(s) of what the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the tunnel should look like on a type 4? I changed the fuel filter from a type 1 type to the square FI type yesterday and it's like a bowl of spaghetti under there with lines zip-tied together to prevent fouling the steering/suspension components. The filter bracket is still there but does the damper have a mount point or float free in the line? Anyone know where I can get a pump mount (the round rubber one with a stud on it) from? My top one has fallen apart. Thanks for any help you can give.

I had the same issues when I replaced the perished fuel lines. A lot of pipe work in not a lot of space. On mine the damper was free floating, luckily the fuel pump bracket was good. However could you cobble something together from an ignition coil bracket? There is a fuel pipe diagram in... Henry Elfrink VW fuel injection tech manual. It won’t do much good, it’s just laid out like a London Underground tube map.

Rubber anti vibration mounts are supplied for electric motors. Looks like quite a selection on ebay. Check bolt thread needed and rubber dimensions.

Thanks for the idea. I'll have a look. I might look at making up some custom metal fuel lines. Safer and neater!
