Gearbox repairs
Good evening everyone, as promised here are some photos of my gearbox, unfortunately in its already stripped condition however I will take some assembly photos in attempt to try and explain what I've done. The reason the gearbox was removed is two fold, one to replace worn out leaking seals and two to fix the crunching when shift down from 3rd to 2nd gear.

Re: Gearbox repairs
I have tried to upload the photos so that they are there to see in the thread but I can't so you'll just have to click on the links.
The second to last one is of the pinion bearing nut that i had to chisel off the entire length of the thread, according to the Haynes manual a special tool is required but it is possible to tap it loose with a punch and wind it off with your hand...... er no! It had been loctited in place and was tight all the way.
The last photo, where the screwdriver is pointing is the baulk/syncro ring that will get replaced and hopefully cure the crunching issue! Just waiting for parts now then the rebuild can commence!

Re: Gearbox repairs
I followed the instructions but was trying to upload from google photos so I guess it doesn’t work from there! Not sure I can be bothered to open a photo bucket or Flickr account just to upload some photos-sorry!
Re: Gearbox repairs
I expect the issue is that you havent made the album public. Youve no need to open an account, as I say in the photo guide, if you want to use another service just let me know and ill create a guide. So ill sort you a google photos one out on google photos if you click "add to shared album" on the photo it should open access so anyone can view the photos. The click create a link and copy and paste it on here. That will get you started until Ive made a proper guide

Re: Gearbox repairs
Very nice photos, I will be studying them closely to understand whats what. I fully expect to be lunching a gearbox this year so at some point ill be needing a rebuild. Great work

Re: Gearbox repairs
If yours is a late gearbox it will have the same large nut retention device as in the second to last photo but if its an early box it has a much simpler 4 bolt fixing for the pinion bearing negating the requirement for a special tool.
All of the replacement seals, syncro ring and new pinion bearing nut arrived today so hopefully the rebuild can start tomorrow!

Re: Gearbox repairs
They were showing for me when purplepeter made his post.
Copying the image links tries to make me sign into a Google account... nah
The embedded early gold fastback screen cap is still there. I suggest the OP checks the photo folder rights, the photos in the posting guide still seem to work.

Re: Gearbox repairs
I expect its a privacy issue then. maybe the photos need to be set to share and then linked over to the forum again. The photos I posted (the gold fasty and the photo hosting guides arent hosted with google) which is why they still work. I will host this photo with google and see what happens.

Two photos there, let me know if you can/cant see them. Id like to figure this out, it'll be another platform we can use and help the OP out

Re: Gearbox repairs
Have you figured out how to keep uploaded photos from google drive on here yet Broady? I have more to add to the thread but don’t want them to disappear like last time!
