barrels n pistons?

Post by kyle » 8th December 2010 - 11:06pm

can u put the 2 litre barrels n pistons in a 1.7 or 1.8 type 4 without machining the block? and does the 2 litre crank fit in the the smaller blocks too?

cheers, kyle

All Type 4 blocks are dimensionally the same, the 1.7/1.8 or the 2.0 crank will drop straight in as will the barrels but you’ll need to match the correct piston pin height to your rods, imagine the TDC piston position on the different stroke cranks. The only anomaly is the 1.7 head which would need opening out to take the bigger barrels.

Rod lengths here… http://www.tunacan.net/t4/tech/conrods.htm

note also the smaller journal size on the 2 litre rods, they won't fit on a 1.7/1.8 crank.
