how much drop is one rear spline?

Post by kinga » 2nd November 2016 - 8:37pm

Hi all,

Think I need to drop the back of my 68 fasty about an inch - is it the same set up as the beetle and how much will 1 outer spline drop the rear end by?

the front sits fine.

this is 1 spline... if you want it somewhere in the middle you have to mess about with inner splines too and that's when it gets complicated! adjustable spring plates is probably a better choice to fine adjust. same suspension as Beetle 1302/3 IRS for reference...

I'm in the process of adjusting my T34 at the moment.
1 outer spline is worth 55mm, 1 inner is 60mm, so 1 spline in each direction = 5mm in the direction the inner spline is rotated.
Therefore to get an inch (25mm) lower you need to rotate the inner spline up 5 splines and the outer back down 5 splines.
Mine is swing axle, unless yours is an auto it will be too.

Hope that helps.

Thanx guys. Will fit my new wheels tomoz, give it a bit os a drive & see how it looks as is. Reckon even 1 spline maybe a bit low for my liking. Dropped my beetle and it was a bit soft at the rear end over the speed bumps.
The fasty rides so nice i didn't want to compromise the ride quality. Will post up some piccies for a 2nd opinion though!
Cheers.
