Rear subframe front mount - 70 Fastback

Post by 74westy » 14th August 2015 - 8:08am

The mounting plate which secures the rear subframe to the body, should this be flat or shaped as in the photos below? Looking at the parts book it should be flat. Could this have been bent over the years from being used as a jacking point?

If it should be flat I'll remove it and straighten it.

It should be flat and the rubber bush is missing.

Cheers Mike, I've been looking further at images on the forums and every photo I came across showed it as flat. I think the rubber is still there though but a pit squashed!

I think something is not quite right as the plate shouldn't be able to fit like that. I picked up a spare plate and rubber bush when I was down my lock up this morning so I have them if you need them.
I'm just about to fit the same parts to my car so I can send you pics of the set up.

Hi Mike,

I straightened the plate and repainted it. Both rubber bushes are there and don't look deformed. But when I went to reinstall it it would only go together with a slight bow in it again??. There's no deformation in the body tunnel either. If it's no trouble I would appreciate pictures of yours and some dimensions,

Cheers
