Found a "new" Type 3 belt left in car by previous owner, had part number 311.903.137 but when I fitted it it today it was too big :? So Guess its a trip to local Motor Factors at the weekend.

Hi Stuart - glad to see you on - let me know how you made it!
Maybe I've managed to kill off whatever was making it hard for some to get on.

311 903 137 is for the earliest engines - up to engine number 141,840.

137A is for the rest, but they mention 'size 3' for 137B - no idea what that's wanted for.

I'll check my spare Conti belts - in case they're like yours.

at halfords they do 2 i cant remember which 1 i fitted cus i bought them both but 1 is about 50mm longer which i think is for type 4s
