411 sedan handling?
Not a bad day today so I went for a blast! Not out of choice I tend to find myself on dual carriageways or motorways, which is fine but you don’t get the full driving experience. I headed for the winding roads today, it was not pleasant it handles like a bag of ***** . It’s stock everything there is...

Re: Mystery knock solved
Well sort of resolved, the motor is running well needs painting and the seats could do with re- covering, but I can work on those areas in the future. I will be at some shows next summer for sure.

Re: Mystery knock solved
Been to see the garage today who caused the damage I can assure all I was not looking forward to it. Anyway the boss was not accepting responsibility despite the evidence in front of him, it then became more confused when two of his staff piled in, yes you can imagine! Anyway he took my bank card de...

Re: Mystery knock solved
I will be paying the first garage who damaged the engine a visit this coming week with the engineers report and the bill. I will drive there in the 411 just to confirm I’m not scamming him and see what the outcome is. Will keep everyone posted.

411 back on the road.
Received the phone call I’ve been waiting for the 411 ready to go. Got the train down to Essex and drove 265 miles back to Burnley. The car never missed a beat in my opinion it’s a testimony to the engine builder Paul Miller ( Harryharpics) he is more than happy to take on the type4 fuel injection. ...

Type4 FI fuel filter
I’m trying to find out why the stock square fuel filter must be used on the FI system as opposed to any other type. I’ve looked at three manuals, the Haynes, Keeping your VW alive and Henry Elfrinks FI tech manual and can find no reference to the reason for the use of the square filter other than it ...

MOT exemption
I don’t know if this subject has been covered before but i would like to know what other members views are. I look on eBay for cars for sale (VW) often , due to recent changes in legislation cars over 40 years are MOT exempt. Are they legally exempt?? Does this just apply to stock vehicles? Can you ...

Re: Update 411 engine rebuild.
Hello Steve, I left a post on the “cars and spares “”site regarding the injectors you have for sale. I will post again on here. Engine builder has soured a couple of NOS injectors so the pressure is off. I still want to buy your items if that’s ok. If you txt me your address I will post you the mone...

Re: Update 411 engine rebuild.
The engine builder found a company in Germany who recondition injectors at a very high cost £250 each and they want your old injector in exchange. So I’m still searching. I will now post an ad on parts wanted.

Re: Type 4 fuel lines around the fuel pump
I had the same issues when I replaced the perished fuel lines. A lot of pipe work in not a lot of space. On mine the damper was free floating, luckily the fuel pump bracket was good. However could you cobble something together from an ignition coil bracket? There is a fuel pipe diagram in... Henry E...

Re: Update 411 engine rebuild.
thank you for your reply and research. However the engine builder suggested new or reconditioned and that he could source them the price was extreme to say the least. Thing is do you chance used items. The fact they are coupled to a manifold suggests there the product of a carb conversion. I’ve aske...

Update 411 engine rebuild.
Good news and bad news, engines rebuilt and back in the car, sounds great apparently!! Bad news one of the injectors is leaking so cannot go for test drive. Which still leaves me not knowing if the gearbox is Kaput. An appeal does anyone have a couple of spare injectors for sale ( the yellow plug ty...

It’s automatic the original problem was the car would change into top(third) but not accelerate. Hence going to the first garage. Proper nightmare!

Re: Mystery knock solved
There is a chance I may, I still don’t know if the transmission is ok. Until the engines sorted it can’t be road tested.
