window trim
Having found some new window rubber from Holland for my 411 I now need some trim to fit into them. I don't think the plastic chrome trim is designed to fit into the groove in rubber intended to take the metal trim so question is, where can I find some for the the two side windows?

I'm slightly chuffed as I drove the 411 home on Saturday
The long restoration reached a climax at the weekend as I drove it home from Volksfarmers on Saaturday, she drove really well and is a credit to the dedication and hard work of Bryan, Jane, Jim and all the others who work there. It has gone from this, what we thought was a reasonably solid shell htt...

Re: I've just bought a big jig-saw puzzle...
Where has the time gone? It's been 3 1/2 years since I last updated this post and I am now happy to say the 411 is now on the road! I drove it home on Saturday and to say I'm chuffed is an understatement :D :D And here we are leaving the farm, note Denise's blue beetle in the background http://i99.p...

411 different towbar to a 412?
Apparently the 411 sedan towbar is different to a 412 variant one as the one I sourced from what I think was a 412 variant (might not have been as it was a few years ago) does not fit the 411. Another small set back on the long resto of the 411. I will update the progress of it after I've found the ...

Re: Any baja experience, anyone? Especially tyres
The problem is the front wheels are only a 14 inch rim which somewhat limits that choice. I think you are correct about Toyo having the tyres for it though as I did discover BF Goodrich R14 tyres aren't available in the UK. As for local dealers, we have the usual suspects which aren't much cop as th...

Any baja experience, anyone? Especially tyres
My son has just acquired this recently http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l282/shawn-b/DSC_0510_zps7b39f516.jpg and after some small jobs I took it for its MoT today as he was working and it passed with just an advise on the tyres starting to show their age so he'll need to sort that. However, after ...

Re: Headlight Relay
On my 412 Variant the fuse box is attached the removable plate (on the top edge of it) that goes behind the carpet in the passenger footwell. All I have to do is pull the door frame trim away to release the part of the carpet that folds along the door frame and then remove that piece of upright carp...

Re: Headlight Relay
The main beam relay in my 412 has a tendency to fill with water from a small leak somewhere above it. The relay would work fine for ages but then stop switching to main beam from dipped. I've changed the relay a few times now, along with the indicator flasher unit and never found where the leak was....

Re: master cylinder brakes,
The master is no longer available, surprise, surprise. Best bet is to send it of to be rebuilt to pastparts or if its just the rubbers then possibly a repair kit is available but can't remember of the top of my head which one and then again it also depends on what master is fitted. It's never as str...

Re: Car pulls left when braking?
Don't overlook the adjustment on the rear end either, surprised me years ago when my wifes bug started to pull to the N/S and I was convinced it was a fault on the front. Checked everything, changed pads and flexis on the front, still pulled. For some reason checked the rear brakes and one of the sl...

I'm going to hope that the 411 is ready for this one, I'll know more when I see Bryan in the week. If it is, I'd love to put it on display on the Club stand for its first showing to the world in the 20 years that its been off the road for now.
I'll let you know.

So only another few years for our late bay reaches exemption and we don't have any car tax to pay ...providing they don't introduce any of the crazy ideas of restricting usage

Re: Once again, one more thing.. to keep me off the road.
As David has already said just also be aware that it is not unheard of for the relays etc to fill with water due to their location and the front window seals not being the best in the world. Good luck on fixing the problem

Re: Once again, one more thing.. to keep me off the road.
The trigger points in the bottom of the distributor only control the injector timing nothing to do with ignition. Could be something as stupid as a dodgy lead, not all new ones are good I've found out. Or could it be arcing out somewhere else? Try running in the dark and see if you spot the tell tal...
