Re: 71 Fast Back Recommissioning

As per peters post, ive done similar many years ago. I p clipped them to the back of the airbox inside the wing and then positioned them so they drain to earth, rather than the bottom of the wing ect.The garden hose does need heating up, but at least you know its a good tight fit, mine have been on ...

I quite like the stock position. i think the smooth front end only comes into its own if the bumper is also removed.

Classy and dignified, just a like type 3. What its like with the parcel shelf? Ive never had one fitted. Always imagined that it would restrict leg movement, but lots of people fit them so I assume im wrong?

Re: 71 Fast Back Recommissioning

Always remember V=IR you can safely assume V is constant for this purpose. So the only way for a fuse to exceed is current rating. Ie for I to go up is for R (resistance) to go down

Re: 71 Fast Back Recommissioning

No the head light switch simply acts as a switch. It sounds very much like you have got a short to earth. You wont be able to get a surge as the regulator will take car of that for you. All that you've got happening is, when you turn on a light, indicator, headlight or other side instead of the wigg...

Re: 71 Fast Back Recommissioning

The "Bosch Box" is your voltage regulator for charging the battery. Under neath that is the wiring loom which runs to the back of the car from the fuse box. My suspission is that when the welding took place it has got hot and melted some wires together which is causing your issues

Re: 71 Fast Back Recommissioning

Yeah, 40 is a ubend with a third smaller outlet on it. its critical that outlet is either used in the system or blanked off. If its not blanked off then lots of your cooling air is blowing out of there rather than over your engine.

All fantastic news! I have had a similar issue with a new condenser some years ago. And mr editor is of the same opion that new ones arent up to all that much. I have actually found a man here in the UK who will overhaul original ones. Ive been collecting up a few with the intention of sending them ...

Re: 71 Fast Back Recommissioning

Luke warm heating? Then you need to go over teh whole system. The heating in a type 3 is fantastic. I suspect youre missing some tubes as is pretty common these days. As 937 says, those lights are good a cheap. For an extra fiver you can get and LED version from screwfix which uses a fraction of the...

Re: 1971 Fastback KBY 217K winter 2016 tidy up

The wheels are a nice contrast to the rest of the car and given its rare to see tele's in anything other than silver or black. I like. Those tubbs seem to have been let if very nicely, how does the top shock mount? It looks like the ear on the beam is close to the inner arch so you wouldnt be able t...

Re: Indicator flashing

It is how it is, but im in the middle of a modd to make left signal left and right singal right. It adds some addition connectors and wiring. Which is why I suspect VW didnt do this originally. Probably would have added a Deutsche Mark to the cost of each car.

Re: 411 sedan handling?

As david says, anything you do to increase the frond end stiffness. with with roll or pitch will result in more understeer. Simple thing sto try are, lower the front ride height more than the rear a small ammount. Or raise the rear a small amount. Try to stiffen the rear end/ reardude rear roll. But...

I am very sure. I couldn't decide if I should add some black detail or not. So got some clear coat on before I had time to confuse myself.

Just a normal hawk eye laser alignment system. Drive on measure and adjust. It gives live reading so you can see the adjustments you're making.
