Re: Any suggestions to what's causing a bad misfire?

If you have not run the vehicle prior to driving to Stanford hall you may of sucked up some grunge from the tank. I’m guessing that could be a big job to clear!

Re: Any suggestions to what's causing a bad misfire?

Seems you have covered all the basis already. Nothing more annoying I have been in your shoes many times. I’m no mechanic but have a thought, could it be the fuel tank breather clogged? This would result in vacuuming. Worth a check.

Just removing engine ancillary parts would be of value hard to find anywhere.

Re: 411 brake callipers

Cheers Steve, I bought a re build kit from brake parts but didn’t need to strip the callipers. Just removing the brake pads and spraying plenty of brake cleaner and gently depressing the brake pedal and forcing the pistons back has done the trick. No sticking on now. However the perished outer seal ...

411 brake callipers

411 brake callipers, can anyone tell me whether these callipers are fitted to other VW ie bay window camper vans etc. May be needing a couple soon for my 1972 411. Outer seals have perished. Any pointer much appreciated.

Wow!! I knew most cities and large towns were heading for LEZ zones, but I thought that was another way for them to empty your bank account. This is serious I’m getting on it.

Re: Ignition fault or vacuum?

The vacuum unit was new, the major problem was an injector was hit and miss I replaced it with one I got off you, cured the running and idle speed with finer adjustment of the throttle valve. All good now.

One other thing regarding electric you lose your historic status. I’m assuming road tax would be nil anyway but you would be looking at MOT for sure. Can’t remember where I read that but I didn’t dream it.

Re: 411 LE, parts to be saved, act quickly

Hi David good find, I’m guessing the obvious stuff would be light clusters they look reasonable, clocks switches wiper arms wouldn’t take up a lot of room. At this point I would say I’m interested but not desperate. Far better these parts went to someone who is mid build I would be wanting them for ...

Hi the cable moves freely, the issue is the articulating piece on the cable end. It needs adjustment to line it up more with the rigid section if that makes sense.

Before I rip the carpet off the bulkhead where the pull cable passes through is there an adjustment to the cable at that point?
