Au revoir
Some of you may have seen me post a for sale add on Facebook this week. To my absolute surprise someone came to look at the car today, liked it (a lot), paid for it and took it away. I'd only posted the add 3 days ago. I just wanted to pop a post up to say thanks to you all for the help and support ...

Thermostat fitment
Hi all, it's been a while. I'm selling the fasty but before it goes i'd like to sort out the thermostat on the engine. When I bought the car one was never fitted, many aren't from what I gather, but if it was fitted by VW then it was for a reason, and I'd like to sort it. I can remember when i strip...

Re: 1971 Fastback KBY 217K winter 2016 tidy up
So been a while since my last update. Over the last 2 weeks I've been mainly bodywork and paint. 1. Fixed the previously poor work around the rear quarter torsion holes (and fit new cover plates). 2. Skimmed the sills so that the bodylines are a bit better. 3. Skimmed, painted the front/valance afte...

Re: Wing mirrors
The normal washer is white nylon - plumbing item maybe? The taper insert in the pivot usually clamps up OK. The thing to be careful of is the shaft which is cast and can easily be broken. After my removal and repair (see build thread), they all seem pretty stable and secure now with no w...

Not something ive expereicned. My springs have been of 3, maybe 4 times in the 11 years ive had the car. And it is only this last time ive had any issue. But much like you the panel with the hook on was removed and replaced. I put it down to my measurement being out and not doing a dry build before...

Hood/bonnet springs removal/fitment
During the resto I never removed the hood/bonnet springs, so when I popped the bonnet back on it stayed upright as design. When I had my suspension work done, the springs were removed to weld in the larger wheel tubs. When they were re-fitted, they had to be put on the furthest notch to get the bonn...

Smart work! I need to do something similar with one of my mirrors. Id been trying to pin the bit of stud in, But if loctite works then ill do that. Much less agro! Forgive me for asking, but is it wise to paint the face of the brake disc? The engine looks fantastic, is it still running a treat? The...
