Re: Painting Fuchs 2.0's

An update on the Fuch's. Still not loving them, so going for another approach. I am going for a brushed effect on the rims & the rest in semi gloss black. I'm using Würth semi gloss black paint, as from a bit of research this is meant to be as close as you can get to the original Porsche paint: http...

Re: Twin Carb Running Issue

Thanks for you help. I ended up taking the car to Pete Nice (and he is) at Aircooled Technic in Surrey. He immediately called it as valve clearances, when hearing how and when the problem started. He sorted a few other bits while it was there, a couple of minor oil leaks & brake adjustment. Highly r...

Twin Carb Running Issue

Hi All, I have a 1600 SB with twin Solex carbs. I had a strange thing happen on a log trip the other week. A couple of hundred miles in, I stopped for fuel. After the fill up, the car suddenly starting acting differently. Its hard to notice at low speed or start/stop, but when cruising in 4th at 50+...

Quick Engine Cover Refurb

One of the few bits that the previous owner didn't get to during "Valerie's" restoration was the engine cover: http://i634.photobucket.com/albums/uu64/knoxo1/IMG_1768.jpg The cover its self is in great shape: http://i634.photobucket.com/albums/uu64/knoxo1/IMG_1770%202.jpg I used Car Insulation Engin...

Re: Upholsterers that want work?

I'm going to get a German Square weave carpet from Spirit of 50's as they seem to be a decent price, £575. I'll ask him about a retrim. I heard back from VWorks, seem helpful & a decent price for leather. http://www.vworks.co.uk/contact.shtml Any experiences? I've decided on a tan leather interior, ...

Painting Fuchs 2.0's

Hi All, I thought I would share a little bit of work I did this morning. My square had 914 Fuchs on it when I bought it & I've never loved them. http://i634.photobucket.com/albums/uu64/knoxo1/VW%20Squareback/IMG_1638.jpg I don't like the high gloss finish, so I decided to take a Scotch Pad to them t...

My New '72 Squareback

This is my new SB. Purchased a few weeks ago from a great chap in Glasgow & christened it with a cruise back to London. A few bits done so far, fuel sender replaced, fuel pump replaced & clock fixed. It has the original all black interior, which I think I will have replaced with some lighter leather...

Upholsterers that want work?

Hi All, I am trying to get a full retrim for my Squareback. I might even treat myself to some leather depending on price. Along with some square weave carpets, mine are cheapo, like the door panels. I have emailed 3 trimmers, multiple times, all who's names I have heard mentioned on here. None of th...

Another Wheel offset quastion

Hi All, hello, my first post since getting my Type 3! Firstly apologies, I know there's a to on here on wheel types/sizes, I have been through a lot of threads, but wanted to ask a question. I have just acquired a lovely 1972 Squareback. She's currently on 5.5/15" 914 replicas, which I don't love. I...
