Re: Auto Engine
Thank you s.unsworth. More differences than I thought and it would not have been so straightforward to use the Carbs, which is one reason I wanted it. Anyway I've bought a manual engine today as it happens

Auto Engine
Hello, I have the chance to buy a twin carb engine from an automatic T3. I fancy having a go at rebuilding and upgrading it but don't want to mess about my original engine. So my question is: Other than the flywheel/torque converter on the rear of the engine are there any other differences between a...

Accelerator Pedal Differences
I have an early '65 Type 3 with a nasty plastic accelerator pedal which I want to change for the correct metal and rubber item SAM_1902.JPG The thing is there are two types of pedal 57-65 and 66-79. So in theory I should need the early one but the plastic one on it - 111 721 507F - is 66 onwards. So...

Re: Type 3 Stalls When Slowing Down
Good call, I've checked the power supply and that the jets 'click' when power is supplied but not whether their secure on the carbs. I do suspect an air leak so will check the balance pipe. Thanks

Type 3 Stalls When Slowing Down
I've recently had my 1965 1500S engine reconditioned and refitted it with two reconditioned 32 PDSIT carbs and an electronic distributor. Ever since I've got it back on the road it would stall from cold but was fine when warmed up and idled at more or less the correct speed so I put it down to choke...

Decent VW Mechanic in Cambridgeshire Area
Hi, I have a 1965 T3 1500S. The engine burns oil on 3 and 4 and the car has a couple of other minor issues including a transmission leak. I'm no VW expert and also busy putting a TR7 back together so willing to pay a mechanic to do what needs doing to the engine and car. Does anyone know of a decent...

RNJ motorsport, a VW head. Worked on all my fathers competition VW's and prepares some amazing machinery. He is in Towcester, Northants so not too far from your area. I'm Cambridge based and when I finally get my type 3 I'll be taking my car to him. https://www.facebook.com/RNJ-Motorsport-104989282...

Re: T3/Air Cooled Mechanic Cambridgeshire Area?
I agree they probably need a rebuild but I have some other issues on the car as well which I wont bore you with but need sorting out. Also I'd like to find a reliable garage not too far away for any future needs. In the meantime do you know of a good carb reconditioning place? Thanks

T3/Air Cooled Mechanic Cambridgeshire Area?
Does anyone know of a decent mechanic familiar with T3 engines in the Peterborough/Cambridgeshire area? I have a '65 T3 which is running like a pig. I suspect the carbs are worn as they are 'spitting'. Also on the left side of the engine the carb to cylinder head inlet pipe and the vacuum balancing ...
