Re: Photobucket - images now missing
Thanks for the help on this carrera but I think I've cracked it now! flickr help is on the web but you can't see it on the site. I went to it with google. It was still a struggle but I think I'm there now. Thanks. Steve

Re: Photobucket - images now missing
I'm using firefox. I've tried right clicking the link location and then paste on the post but I just get the link. Then I preview it and just see the link info instead of a pic.

Re: Photobucket - images now missing
Thanks for that 937carrera but when I click on the pic inside flickr I don't get a "properties" to click on. Unless I'm doing something daft!
I don't want a link, I want an actual pic!

Re: Photobucket - images now missing
I've moved all my pics to flickr but I can't for the life of me work out how to get a pic to actually show on here. I've tried everything but I just can't crack it. Could someone show me what to do please? I've never had a problem in the past but this time I'm stuck! Oh, and I'm running windows ten ...

Re: early/late frame head and beam
hi. i fitted a complete beam assembly to my early car. i've looked long and hard at both early and late setups and the only difference between the two were: different front hubs/discs and calipars and possibly bearings. calipars are as early type4 car the large mounting rubbers that wrap round the b...

Re: Has anyone put their own pop outs in a late squareback?
hi BeeBabs. i got mine from status. they were quite easy to fit and were faithful to the ones i removed. the hardest part was getting the frames appart. i ended up getting new screws and re-tapping the threads. if anyone wants to fit pop-outs all you have to do is re-create the holes you see in my p...

Re: Has anyone put their own pop outs in a late squareback?
well i hope you have more luck this time! just a quick note though. make sure you do the fitting without the inner body bead fitted. if i remember you have to shoe-horn them in. i just wrapped some black tape round the hinge hooks on the frame and they open and close ok. they don't seem to be loose ...

Re: suspect oil cooler leak ???
only one more thing to watch. i have had quite a few people over-tightening the fixings on the oil cooler. this sometimes results in a crack in the engine case across the oilway where the seals sit. if this occurs the case can sometimes be repaired but as it would involve a complete strip-down of th...

Re: MAD STARTER MOTOR !!!! HELP PLEASE ;-)
after you've sorted that, a good idea is to fit a starter relay. it takes the load away from the ignition switch and prolongs its working life.

Re: 1973 Fastback timimg
just a quikkie here as i'm just off to do something, but have you checked out the firing order? just reading between the lines here but you mention that when you disconnect number 4 plug lead, it runs better. check that firing order. it should be 1-4-3-2. (rotor runs clockwise) remove the distributo...

Re: question about rear main shaft play
hi billy. the imput shaft you refer to gets its support from the pilot bearing in the end of the crank so when the engine is out, it will lose its support and then will have a bit of slop in it. i have no idea what those marks are on the inside of the housing. maybe has come to greif on something be...

Re: 32/34 pdsit
these PDSITs are well known to be a bit of a nightmare to say the least. not at all economical on fuel either. look for induction leaks on all gaskets and pipes. on type25s VW had a idle stabliser unit mounted next to the ignition amplifier in the engine bay. if you can get hold of a haynes or an au...

Re: 32/34 pdsit
buy a service kit for your carb. in it will be a new float valve. the fuel level on these carbs is controlled by how many washers there are that go onto the valve before it is screwed into the top cover of the carb so just take whatever washers there are and transfer them to the new valve. what fuel...

Re: Front Bump Stop rotted out
hi stuart. well that doesn't look all that bad from here. if the beam is in sound condition then just replace the buttons that hold the rubber bit.

Re: Front Bump Stop rotted out
hi stuart. has the knob that holds the rubber bung rotted off, or is the rot a bit more extensive? a pic would be a good idea of that area. i've repaired quite a few of these as they are in the firing line of all the moisture. if you can find a dead beam you could saw the truntion off it and weld it...

SQUAREBACK ENGINE COVER
hi all. the engine cover on my square has no heat pad under it. i also have another cover with a pretty good heat pad on it but it doesn't have the webbing with the gutter hook on it. do i take it that maybe the later cars didn't have the webbing with the hook? i don't really want to try and remove ...

Re: Notchback loss of reverse gear!
nice one... its so good when you find the answer before pulling the motor out! those gearboxes aren't bad when you think about the time when they were designed and the milege they cover before they act up. the linkage really is the weak part of it all and that performs quite well as well.

Re: Notchback loss of reverse gear!
hi. its worth lifting the rear seat out and remove the cover that hides the coupling. this suffers from becomming soft from oil and heat over the years and sometimes even comes loose. also, check that aftermarket shifter for correct ajustment. if you already have the shifter out get hold of the rod ...

Re: rear suspension
hi. you don't say what wheels you have and what wheels you had before. if you are going to fit 195 tyres you need to fit wheels with the correct offset. type3s are a bit fussy on this as there isn't a lot of room under those arches. another thing is you risk contact with the front inner wing edges o...
