Re: Indicator switch repairs - how

Take the lamp holder out from the back of the clock dude. Lok on the front/inside and there's a small wire connecting the two indicator lamps together. It's got yellow sleeving on it. Check that's ok, mine did something similar, looking dull. The wire had started to break down, so I simply soldered ...

Brake pipes from resevior to master cylinder

Mine have been fitted with internally braided, clear poly pipe. I have noticed that it has started to deteriate. There is cotton braided rubber pipe from the resevior to the spare wheel well, then some steel pipe, then the clear braided. I would like to dress some steel or copper pipe from the cotto...

Main beam and indicators only working intermittently.

Is there a relay that operates both? I have had on and off problems with my indicator relay, mainly due to a bad earth. It isn't the original relay either, it's a generic relay. I have recently also changed my indicator stalk to a later one as mine had been snapped in the past and taped together. I ...

Re: HELP I need one of these

Hi Peter, I'm not offended at all :) I'm pretty competent and experienced with engines, you need to be with aircooleds lol The first part of the fan housing has one screw missing and always has, I got the fan off with a puller, I never torqued the flywheel accurately as I never have during engine bu...

Re: HELP I need one of these

Hi guys, I have ended up grinding out a small amount from the inside of the fanhousing and some off the fan. It still catches but very little. On further investigation, the fan is way out of shape and has been welded in the past, so could be out of shape.

I'll look for a good, new fan :)

Re: HELP I need one of these

It mounts to the case on a couple of bolts dude. I can't see how to get it wrong. It's hitting the front piece of the fanhousing, the piece that fits on last.

HELP I need one of these

After rebuilding my engine, I appear to have lost a seal/shim (#8 in the picture) from my pulley. How do I know? Well, when I run it, it's making a massive amount of noise as the fan is catching the fanhousing. I have taken all off this of while it's in the car, which is a nightmare. I have ground d...

Re: Starter motor issue

Trouble is, I had to break the old bronze bush to replace it. The one I fitted was for a 6v - 12v conversion. I fear I'll have to change the flywheel to a 200mm then, that's a bit of a pisser  Especially since I've just replaced all the bearings in the engine, had my carbs rebushed, rebuilt it ...

Starter motor issue

I have been having issues with my starter. I decided to fit a good one from a bug. I quickly realised that the brass insert in the bellhousing need to be smaller. I then replaced that with a new one that I had in my bits box. I fitted the new starter and hey presto, it fired and turned over a treat....
